SONARS are a neo-psychedelic rock band, formed in 2014 by English brothers Frederick and David Paysden and Serena Oldrati, following on from prior experiences including a performance on the main stage of the Heineken Jammin' Festival and a tour in the USA.
On January 9, 2015, their first musical production was released by independent record label Dilruba Records; a self-produced concept EP that tells the story of stranded astronaut Jack Rust and his interstellar travels aboard the space shuttle Dragonfly IV.
“Jack Rust and The Dragonfly IV” has met with positive critical acclaim by a number of online and newspaper reviewers such as Corriere Della Sera, OndaRock, Sentire Ascoltare, Troublezine, Audiofollia, Loudvision, Eco Di Bergamo, Cheap Sound, Traks, MusicalNews, Dafenproject, Indiana Mag, CTRL, Indie-Rock, Osservatore Elaviano, Off Topic and many others.
On January 16, the self-produced video of the band's first single “Desert Moon” was previewed on “Mucchio Selvaggio”, while the single itself has received airplay on radio stations such as Radio Deejay, Radiophonica, Radio Pianeta, TG Rock and Radio Alta, amongst others.
The “Dragonfly IV Tour”, which commenced on the EP's release date, already includes over 40 concerts in just the first four months with performances in France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, and has been nominated as one of the “Most Eagerly Anticipated Tours of 2015” by KeepOn.
Back in 1946, in the very midst of the space race, Captain Jack Rust was sent on a voyage into deep space aboard Dragonfly IV, the first fully functional space shuttle built by NASA in an attempt to eclipse rival technology in the Soviet Union.
The initial launch was a success, but soon after leaving Earth’s atmosphere the communication system failed due to technical faults.
The astronaut was never heard from again, until now…
